We must obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29
The 2020 presidential election is just around the corner. So how should a Christian vote? I know how I will vote. If you are not sure yet, here are some things you might want to consider.
- Make sure you do vote. This is one of the greatest rights we have in the United States of America. Our forefathers fought and some died for this right and to not vote is to show disdain for their sacrifice.
- Vote in person. Make sure your vote is counted, and you will know that if you actually see your ballot entered into the system. My daughter has promised to take me (with my walker!) to the polling site. If you are unable to vote in person then write for an absentee ballot. Make sure you ask for your ballot in plenty of time to get it mailed in.
- Do not vote for a person or a party, look at what they stand for. It’s their platform that counts. Take time and the effort to know where the candidate wants to take this country in the next four years.
- Make sure that no planks on the party’s platform are against what the Bible says. Does the Bible say, “You shall not murder”? Then you cannot vote for a party that approves of abortion. Does the Bible say, “You shall not commit adultery”? Then you cannot vote for a party that promotes homosexuality or same sex marriage. Does the Bible say, “You shall not steal”? Then you cannot vote for a party that makes laws that take from some and give to others. Does the Bible say, “You shall not give false witness”? Then you cannot vote for a party that is known for lying. But mostly does the Bible say, “You shall have no other gods before me”? Then you cannot vote in a government that makes laws that say you cannot pray to your God in school, or in public places, or at sports events. You cannot vote in a government that says that you could be fired from a job if you talk about Jesus Christ or if you use true but “politically incorrect” words in the workplace. You cannot vote for a party that tries to take away the right that God has given you to be free to think, talk, and act according to his Word.
I trust that you are grateful to live in a free country where you can vote. I know I am.
When I have the privilege to lead a Rafiki Prayer Group or a Bible study of any kind my opening prayer always includes gratitude that we still can pray, and that we still have Bibles.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your encouragement to your wider audience to vote. Every vote declares appreciation for the privileges we have in our great country.
Vivian, thanks for your comments. You are a great encourager.
DeleteAmen, Amen, Amen! Thank you, Rosemary!
DeleteAmen, Amen, Amen! Thank you, Rosemary!
DeleteAmen, Amen, Amen! Thank you, Rosemary!
DeleteAmen! Thank you for speaking clearly using God's Word.
ReplyDeleteCindy, thanks for commenting on my blog. It encourages me.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rosemary, for your clarity to simply vote the truth we live by. Person, party, and personality merely disguise the real issue of standing firm for God’s Word amid the clamorous counterfeits of the world. For many years, you have been and are still, a godly and beloved influence in my life!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your encouragement. I need it as I settle into my new senior living facility. One more week of quarantine and then I can go out with my family!
DeleteIn my life too, Rosemary! I appreciate you so very much!!
DeleteWould like to vote very much, but both parties are against the Bible. 😞
ReplyDeleteI have tried to comment before lets see if this time iI get thru! Mike and I will surely vote! We are so thankful to God that we have His Word, and that we have been able to study it since we came to know Him as young adults. And I am trying faithfully in reading your blogs. Have you moved yet?
ReplyDeleteWell, you did it this time! I'm so happy to hear from you. Thanks for asking about my move. Yes, I have moved into Lake Ridge Village in Eustis, FL. I'm just not yet settled, but I will be soon. And I can see my family!!
DeletePTL!!
ReplyDeleteAhhh. Works only from phone. So how do I tell a friend how to sign up for your blog?
ReplyDeleteNever mind, Rosemary, Karen is helping me!😀🥰
ReplyDeleteAnd now the strong possibility of peace in Jerusalem and throughout the Middld East. 😇
