LAST LESSONS #185 — LAST LESSONS — PAY ATTENTION

“Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. I am a sojourner on the earth; hide not your commandments from me!” Psalm 119:18-19.

In the place where I live hardly any of the residents pay attention to the news. It may be because some of them cannot see to read or watch TV, but from what I gather they are just not interested in much more than what they eat or their latest doctor’s appointment.

But they are not the only ones who do not pay attention to the world news. The younger generation is simply not interested in world events. If you ask them about a current headline, they have no idea what you are talking about.

If there was ever a time when we should pay attention to world news, it is now. If we don’t know what is going on at the border, if we don’t know who wants to be elected to office, if we don’t know about those who want abortion legislation, if we don’t know what is happening in Israel, how can we make good decisions for our country or for ourselves?

Likewise, if we do not read the Bible and pay attention to what it says, we cannot make good decisions.

When the angels announced Jesus’ birth, they said “Behold” or “pay attention.”

At Jesus’ baptism John the Baptist said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Pay attention!

I want to urge you, if you are a Christian, to pay attention to what is happening in the world. I’m not going to tell you how you should respond to what is happening, I just want to urge you to respond as God leads you.

I’m sure the Lord will lead you to pray for Israel and for the United States of America.

P.S. from Rosemary: I’m continuing to pray for revival!
