LAST LESSONS #190 — LAST LESSONS — ATTRIBUTES OF GOD

“Young men and maidens together, old men and children! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted, his majesty is above earth and heaven.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

Do you want to know what makes me shed tears of joy? I received a message from a friend with the following:

He said that he and his wife buy “Praying the Attributes of God” by the dozens at a time, and they give them to people all the time. Any time they go to a new dentist, doctor, have a trades person do something, they give them a copy.

At one point they gave a whole case of the books to their dentist, and their dentist gave them all out to his staff and others. Later (a few years later) they went to another dentist’s office and started to give an Attributes book to the receptionist. She said, “Oh that’s the book Dr. so and so gave me a few years ago!”. And this receptionist went on, in tears, to relate that when her father, a non-Christian, was dying and in hospice care, she brought her Attributes book and read it to him every day. The father became a Christian before he died just from hearing the scripture in that book. He said there were many stories he had about how the Attributes book had blessed people.

See why I shed tears of joy?

If you don’t know anything about “Praying the Attributes of God,” I will tell you that years ago, I thought of 31 attributes of God and then I went through my Bible and color-coded the attributes. I made a notebook that included the verses, one for each day of the month, added a section of thanksgiving for each attribute and a place for praying for personal requests.

Around the year 2001 a BSF leader asked if she could have a copy which she shared with other leaders. That resulted in my giving an Attributes notebook to all the Area Advisors. Then one of the leaders asked if she could approach Kregel Publishing to see if they would publish it in book form. I said that would be OK with me. They did publish it in 2003 and it is still in print. They even asked me if they could print it in Spanish! Of course, I was happy about that. So that’s the story of “Praying the Attributes of God.” It can be purchased from Amazon and other places—and at a discount from Rafiki.

God is gracious to let me see this while I am still alive and when I think that others are blessed with my little book, I shed tears of joy!
